That Italy is a pretty cinematic and photogenic country is a known fact (we are called the Bel Paese for a reason). Travel from north to south, and you’ll find postcard-perfect borghi and idyllic seaside scenes; rolling hills that seem to have come out of a painting and local folklore to keep you entertained for days.  

The film industry has long taken notice. Ever since the 1950s, Italy has produced and inspired too many movies to count. Some have been brilliant–think Fellini masterpieces and the dream-like features of Paolo Sorrentino. Others…less so.
