There are few things more celebratory than the pop of a cork and the effervescent dance of bubbles in a tall glass. And while Champagne often steals the limelight, Prosecco, Italy’s lively, approachable sparkling wine has quietly become a global favorite, winning over wine lovers with its easy elegance, crisp fruit notes, and charming versatility.
August 13 marks National Prosecco Day, an invitation to celebrate Italy’s signature sparkler in all its fizzy glory. But Prosecco is more than just a party pour, it’s a window into the culture, craft, and terroir of northern Italy’s Veneto region. At its best, Prosecco is joyful yet refined, made primarily from the Glera grape and produced via the Charmat method, which preserves its vibrant fruit and floral character.
