Trucks thunder down Carlstadt's Washington Avenue on their way to the warehouses dotting the industrial area. On one side of the enormous thoroughfare: an adult boutique called Naughty and a Sunoco gas station. On the other: the Italian restaurant Gianna's.
Its unlikely location belies the many reasons to come to this 16-year-old spot, which is the culinary equivalent of sinking into a favorite cozy chair. The comfortable 85-seat restaurant offers oversized portions of familiar and delicious Italian and Italian-American dishes, served by veteran wait staff.
