New street signs designating a portion of 23rd Street in honor of a longtime Italian social club were officially dedicated by the city on Nov. 18. Members of the Galileo Club at 371 S. 23rd Street at Virginia Avenue were joined by city officials, including Mayor Tom Butt as keynote speaker, and neighborhood council members for the dedication of Galileo Club Way.
The club has been a presence in the city since it was chartered in 1933 and the well-maintained clubhouse has been a familiar sight on 23rd Street since its construction was started in 1938, with additions made over the years.
