The savings held by families and businesses in Italy exceed 2 trillion euros—specifically, 2.211 trillion. Of that amount, 1.079 trillion is invested in securities, mutual funds, or stocks, while 1.131 trillion is held in bank deposits. These figures come from the Bank of Italy.
Milan, in the Lombardy region, ranks first among Italian provinces in terms of savings, with an average of €71,671 per person. It is followed by Biella in Piedmont and then Modena in Emilia-Romagna. Next in the rankings are Piacenza (also in Emilia-Romagna), Genoa in Liguria, and Cuneo in Piedmont.
