For years, science has been studying certain areas of the world where people seem to have a "geographical advantage" in terms of longevity. These areas are called Blue Zones, special regions where the percentage of centenarians remains surprisingly high.
Among the countries on the list is Italy, with Sardinia, which has become in the last twenty years the scientific symbol of Mediterranean longevity—a sort of open-air laboratory studied by demographers, nutritionists, and geneticists from all over the world.
