The Festa Italiana event in Mokena caused a sensation three years ago when it was first introduced as a celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Nearly 1,000 people attended the fun-filled day of prayer, entertainment and authentic Italian food. The event grew even more in popularity last year when 1,400 people attended. This year, the event is to be held on Sunday, July 17, on Front Street and Vince DiFiore, president of Festa Italia, is hoping to have somewhere around 2,000 attendees.
