Enticing aromas filled the air in downtown Independence Saturday as teams competed in the annual spaghetti cookoff. Bad weather during the weekend of the eighth annual Sicilian Heritage Festival had caused the contest to be rescheduled.

This time, the sky was sunny and clear with some gusts of wind that at one point blew away the Tangi Tourism Commission's tent. However, the judges for best decorated table had already made their rounds and Tangi Tourism won first place in that category.
