It’s widely understood that art is created in solitude. Emily Dickinson, Paul Cezanne, Frida Kahlo — all of them thrived in isolation, at least in terms of their work. From Oct. 21 to 22, The Marketplace at 9000 Ming Ave. will be filled with thousands of visitors for the 25th Via Arté Italian Street Painting Festival, an annual celebration of art in motion.
Organized by the Bakersfield Museum of Art, the event will feature Italian chalk art, food and retail vendors, a Via Bambino kids’ art section, live music — including locally famous Mento Buru — and more. “It’s unlike anything that Bakersfield sees,” said Lauren Marty, the marketing and communications manager at the Bakersfield Museum of Art.
