Tri-State Italian-American Congress Honors Cardinal Egan Scholars

Speaking in Italian and English, Cardinal Egan welcomed the students and families of Italian-American descent who were at the New York Catholic Center in Manhattan to receive scholarships from the Tri-State Italian-American Congress.

"Thank you all for coming," said Cardinal Egan to the 251 elementary and high school students and their families who were awarded Cardinal Egan Scholarships.

The scholarships are funded by the Tri-State Italian-American Congress under the leadership of its president, Judge Louis Fusco Jr. Scholarships worth a total of $2.6 million have been given out to some 2,000 students over 11 years, noted Ralph Conti, the executive director of the congress.
