Members of the Italian-American Festival committee are considering moving the city’s largest festival out of the downtown to the Eastwood Mall in Niles. A letter to committee members from Carol Ficeti, committee chairwoman, states the Cafaro Co., which operates the shopping complex, is interested in the mall hosting the festival.
“Representatives from Cafaro and Eastwood Mall will make a presentation at the March 1 meeting,”the letter states. “It is very important that as many members as possible attend this meeting because the membership will vote on whether or not to move the festival.” “Some of the board members have already met with them to hear what they have to offer,” she wrote. “But the final decision is up to you. This is a huge decision and not to be taken lightly.”
