The West Essex Chapter of Unico National presented Athletic Awards to West Essex High School seniors Monica Onorata and Joe Egan, both from Fairfield. West Essex High School Softball Coach Andrea Mondadori said that Onorata is a four-year varsity starter for softball and a four-year varsity cross country runner.
"Monica's first at bat as a freshman was a solo homerun over the centerfield fence at Pulaski Park in Bloomfield and one of the last games we played, going 3-3 in our state game with a triple," she said. "Monica's best softball moment this season came in the county semi-final game at Seton Hall University.
