
The Gold Country Lodge No. 2705 Sons & Daughters of Italy in America awarded three scholarships at the annual dinner meeting May 21 in El Dorado Hills. For 19 years lodge members have recognized graduating high school seniors attending El Dorado Union High School District campuses.
A $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a student of Italian decent. Adele Gargiulo from Oak Ridge High School received this scholarship. She will attend Point Loma Nazarene University San Diego and major in biochemistry/pre-med. A $500 scholarship was awarded to Courtney Heller, a student who had exemplary performance in the Italian language four year course of study at Oak Ridge High School. She will attend California State University, Chico, and major in physiology with the goal to attend graduate school to earn her doctorate in occupational therapy.
