UNICO Delaware recently presented its 2024 Brian Piccolo scholarships, named to honor the Italian American football hero who played for Wake Forest University and for the Chicago Bears (1965-69), to student-athlete honorees during a ceremony at St. Edmond Parish Hall, Rehoboth Beach.
Six students sponsored by members of the Rehoboth Area Chapter were awarded monetary gifts along with a copy of “Passage to Liberty - A History of Italian Immigration” so they could further explore their roots. Nominees were required to be of Italian heritage, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and participate in a sporting activity.
