We’re excited to share some news: the Foundation for Innovation and Excellence in Italian Teaching (FIEIT) is officially up and running. FIEIT was created to support and grow Italian language education. Our goal is to provide teachers with useful tools and training and ensure that students—no matter their background—have access to strong Italian language programs.
We’re working in collaboration with the Italian Embassy and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help bring more Italian into schools across the Tri-State area, especially in New Jersey. We offer support in many forms—including resources, training, and funding—to help schools launch or strengthen Italian programs.
Here’s what we’re focusing on: Workshops and professional development for K–12 Italian teachers; Help with curriculum design and assessments; Support for dual enrollment programs (high school + college credit); Collaboration on language certifications in the U.S.; A new online platform with teaching and learning resources.
We’re looking forward to connecting with teachers, schools, and communities that care about the future of Italian language education. More updates soon! Visit our website: https://sites.rutgers.edu/fieit/
