Founded in 1977 by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to meet the academic needs of Italians living in the New York City area, La Scuola d'Italia Guglielmo Marconi is the only school in North America that provides a classical, bilingual education rooted in the Italian and European traditions. La Scuola offers a strong foundation in liberal arts, mathematics and science as well as an in-depth study and appreciation of American, European and Italian civilization and culture. Its curriculum fosters intellectual stimulation and personal growth and is open to innovation and to new technologies.

As the school approaches its 40th anniversary in 2017, the trustees have undertaken a significant planning and development process that will create a larger, more modern institution in a new Manhattan headquarters. In essence, they are building La Scuola for the next century, an educational institution that will have a strong cultural impact in New York and a proud place in the world.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Development will build a strategy to develop a pipeline of donors and Board prospects. The Director will drive strategy around programs and provide leadership within the Development Department and La Scuola to deepen the institution's commitment to philanthropy.
