Mauro Lorenzini, the Consul General of Italy in Houston, recently visited the 80th Flying Training Wing at the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) program, the world’s only multinationally manned and operated flight training program, based at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas. He was accompanied by Italian astronaut Colonel Luca Parmitano, a member of the European Astronaut Corps of the European Space Agency.
During their visit, Lorenzini and Parmitano met with Italian Air Force personnel and ENJJPT leadership. Colonel Parmitano, a 2001 ENJJPT graduate and test pilot with the Italian Air Force, also had the opportunity to fly aboard the T-6 Texan II.
The Consul General expressed “sincere thanks to the 80th Flying Training Wing team for their warm hospitality and for strengthening the collaboration between Italy and the United States in aviation and space exploration.”
