Many student organizations at Texas Tech provide an out-of-class opportunity to learn about foreign language and culture in a personable environment. Two such organizations are the Tech Italian Club and the Arabic Language Student Organization.
Francesca Mirti, the Italian Club’s on-campus advisor and a foreign language instructor, said she started the club when she came to Tech in August. “The very first goal was to start with conversation,” Mirti said, “because the students need to have a place where they can use the language freely after they practice it in the classroom.”
