Two things you'll notice right away about Bottega Americano, the long-awaited restaurant-marketplace in the East Village: it doesn't look like anywhere else in San Diego and — more importantly — it doesn't taste like anywhere else either.
The 8,000-square-foot Italian food emporium opened barely a week ago and its kitchen is already cooking on all cylinders. And that has nothing to do with the adorable red Vespa greeting you outside the front door or the black Vespa in the hallway on the way to the W.C.
