A.G. Ferrari to close all Bay Area stores

A.G. Ferrari, a small chain of Italian markets that’s been in the Bay Area for almost 100 years, is closing its four remaining cafe-delis on May 1 to focus on its import business.

Founded in 1919 by Annibale Giovanni Ferrari as an Italian store called Parisian Delicatessen, the company in more recent decades had as many as 13 retail stores in the Bay Area named in honor of its namesake. The four remaining locations, all due to close, are in San Francisco’s South of Market and Laurel Heights neighborhoods, and Oakland’s Montclair Village and Piedmont Avenue.
