San Francisco got its historic Tosca Cafe back last week, though the North Beach classic now comes with a touch of New York. The new owners are Ken Friedman and chef April Bloomfield, who run the Spotted Pig and other several successful restaurants in Manhattan.
They've restored Tosca with some subtle changes. The bar remains a bar, albeit with a new version of the famous House Cappuccino. The team has also brought back Tosca's long-dormant kitchen, offering food in the red booth-laden area in the rear that is now the dining room, complete with a wall of wine.
