It doesn't get more Italian-American than Pizza of the Seven Fishes. The dish is the pizza of the month at Slice, a Philadelphia-area restaurant which has been making it every December for the past four years. The pizza is a twist on the traditional Christmas Eve dinner for Italian-Americans, Feast of the Seven Fishes.
"That is my family tradition," said Marlo Dilks, co-owner of Slice. "That is what we do for the Christmas Eve dinner." Dilks was joking around with her husband when she came up for the idea of the pizza. "I said 'I'm going to put seven fishes on a pizza' and he was like 'Sure, if you want to try it.'" she recalled. That first year, the pizza was a success. It's only grown in popularity since.
