Patrick and Mandy Elston were saving up to buy a weekend camping retreat to relax and unwind from work. Instead, they ended up with a top-of-the-line Italian-made pizza oven, a new career and more work and happiness than they could’ve imagined.

What started on a lark has turned into their family business, Gus Franco’s Pizza in Lower Burrell, named for their sons, August, 4, and Francis, 6. They make neo-Neapolitan pizzas for takeout in what was formerly a dentist’s office.
