Russo's Pizzeria and Italian Restaurant, 527 Penn St., will open a second location in the former Reading Outlet Center's Big Mill building, owner Carlos H. Salguero confirmed this week. The announcement marks the first business to publicly commit to developer Alan W. Shuman's $23 million retail and residential project at 702 N. Eighth St.
The project is heading toward a spring completion after a devastating arson fire practically killed it in October 2014. The damage estimate was nearly $10 million. No one has been arrested for the fire, which is still under investigation by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
