Lidia's Pittsburgh in the Strip District has gotten a facelift. It's not just a nip and tuck but a gutting that exceeds the construction costs of many new restaurants opening around town. Opened 15 years ago, Lidia's has retained its backlit wine wall in the renovation, but has made many other updates: A once open kitchen is now closed.
A massive white marble bar replaces a gray slab. Italian honeycomb tiles now line the barroom floor. And a TV that doubles as a mirror will be installed this week. Furniture has been replaced, too. In the bar, oversized wood stools swap out red cushioned ones.
