If there's anything we in North Jersey love, it's pizza. So good news: a new Neapolitan pizza joint has made its way this month to The Promenade in Edgewater. BYO restaurant Izzy's Pizzeria is owned by longtime restaurateurs Dimitri Vlahakis (Motorino Pizza, Esperanto and La Gamelle in New York City and Peter Hajiyerou (Greek Taverna in Edgewater).
The chefs are Michael Burbella, who worked in Tuscany, and Cesar Guevara, who is also the chef at restaurant Esperanto). They will be slinging pizza cooked in a wood-burning oven imported from Naples -- it takes, they say, a mere 2 minutes to turn around their Neapolitan-style pizzas.
