It all began with a handcrafted brick oven by Giovanni Tacconelli. That oven inspired a five-generation owned-and-operated restaurant that has served Italian-American pies in Philadelphia since 1946 and South Jersey since 2003.
And now, Tacconelli's Pizzeria is joining a crowded field of Haddon Avenue pizza shops with a second South Jersey location coming to Westmont in Haddon Township. Vince Tacconelli and his wife Doris, with son Vince Jr., owned and operated the Philadelphia restaurant on Somerset Street from 1998 to 2002. Before that, other generations of Tacconellis ran the restaurant. (It’s now independently owned by Vince’s brother.)
