There hasn't been a sit-down Italian eatery in Berea since Bucci's landmark town center restaurant closed its doors in December 2013. That will change Monday, when John and Jennifer Mankiewicz host a grand opening at JoJo Carloni's Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria, 627 W. Bagley Road, at Helwig's Whistle Stop.

"We're going to have a little slice of Italy right here in Berea," John Mankiewicz said, explaining that nearly all ingredients used in their pasta and pizza dishes will be grown locally and made on-site, using local sources when possible. "I grew up on a farm outside Buffalo," he said. "My grandparents were farmers, and I will be growing rosemary and basil on our new restaurant's outdoor patio."
