When Peter Affatato left Eric Scheffer's Savoy in 2002, he wanted to open the now-closed 28806 Deli to bring a taste of New York to West Asheville. That restaurant closed, but Affatato, who lived in New York for the first 21 years of his life, hasn't lost the taste for the deli-style sandwiches and prepared salads he sold there.
In mid-July, he'll be reviving those flavors and adding a few more when he opens Nona Mia Market and Deli at 1050 Haywood Road. The new deli will be attached to the current Nona Mia restaurant.
