Giorgio’s is the sort of restaurant that has been missing from the Lake Wales dining scene for far too many years. Restaurants of this caliber have had their day, some with more sticking power than others. Vinton’s, with its New Orleans vibe, comes to mind as one of the best. It had a good run, but it too is long gone.
Chalet Suzanne was in a class all to its own, but after 83 years as a quirky restaurant and inn serving the likes of sherry-spiked lobster Newberg and thick lamb chops served by women in Swiss costume, it belonged to a different era and ceased operating nearly four years ago. L’incontro Italian restaurant remains one of the very few Lake Wales eateries that I would qualify as upscale, and exceedingly capable, leaving Giorgio’s in very slim company.
