It’s no secret that Birminghamian’s love Italian and Mediterranean food. For Birmingham magazine’s August edition of “This or That” we had our social media followers vote on their favorite between the two cuisines. The results came out slightly in favor of Italian food (58%) over Mediterranean food (42%). Here, we give recommendations for both.
1. Gianmarco’s – A staple on Homewood’s Broadway Street since 2003, Gianmarco’s is at the top of many people’s lists when it comes to the best Italian in town. The restaurant took home two Best of Birmingham honors last year, including “Best Italian Restaurant” and “Best Date Night” for its quaint, romantic wine bar.
