Very inexpensive Italians wines - a white and a pair of reds - make this week's Wine Buy: Altavilla Della Corte Grillo, Il Bastardo Sangiovese and Ruffino Chianti.
Altavilla Della Corte
Varietal: Grillo.
Lime and minerals jump to the forefront of this white wine from Sicily. It's like it is trying to grow up to be a Sauvignon Blanc but remains a bit more restrained. If you like more of a bite than Chardonnay has to offer, yet a less acidic sipper, this might be for you. Has a slight greenish hue and is very versatile with food. Info: $12, composite cork, firriato.it/wines/white/altavilla-della-corte-grillo/?lang=en.com, 2014.
