In the age of artificial intelligence, infrastructure is no longer just networks, but also computers. Both traditional computing centers and supercomputers. Starting with the former, Italy is carving out a leading role for itself in Europe. The datacenter market is booming, with Italy accounting for 13% of the continent's infrastructure, with an annual growth rate of 8%, higher than Germany and the Netherlands (the two countries with the highest density of data centers).
The growth, which is a real infrastructural adjustment, follows the pace dictated by the very rapid expansion of artificial intelligence applications: in the three-year period ending at the end of this year, Italy will have seen the development of 83 new infrastructures, for a total value of at least 15 billion euros of investment.
