The Consul General of Italy in Philadelphia Cristiana Mele participated yesterday in the inauguration of the direct flight Philadelphia – Milan, operated by American Airlines. Another important connection that will further strengthen economic relations and cultural ties with Italy: Milan, the capital of Fashion and the gate to our beautiful lakes, is the 4th direct flight from Philly to Italy , joining Rome, Venice and Naples.
The new direct flight will operate daily throughout the summer season until October 2025. The route will be served by modern Boeing 787-8 aircraft. The launch of this new direct service between Milan and Philadelphia marks American’s continued growth in the Italian market and further strengthens connectivity between Lombardy and the United States.
As a major hub for American Airlines’ transatlantic flights, Philadelphia offers an extensive network of connections to key destinations across North America and beyond. During the Summer 2025 season, Malpensa will serve approximately 200 destinations with direct flights. Long-haul carriers have scheduled a capacity increase of over 18%, the highest growth among major European airports.
