Antica Barberia Giacalone is a historical barbershop in the city center of Genoa, a stone’s throw from the San Lorenzo Cathedral. It is a gem, wrapped in the narrow alleyways of the Ligurian city. Established in 1882, it was renovated over a century later, in 1992, by the owner’s son Italo – also thanks to funding from the Amici del FAI association. The colors of the Belle Époque have now come back to life in this historical shop, full of Deco Art details. 

Turquoise and gold alternate in the windows, echoing the style of Byzantine churches, while mirrors on the walls and on the ceiling create playful reflections of light and a theatrical illusion of space. Chandeliers, wooden frames, armchairs and vintage tiles: everything was restored and carefully thought through in order to preserve the essence of a place that is part of our country’s culture and tradition.
