What is typically the busiest time of year in Italy has arrived: Easter weekend, when Italian families travel across the peninsula to see friends and relatives and take in the country’s treasures. Capodimonte is always bustling at Easter. Last year, lines stretched throughout the palace courtyard for the museum’s Caravaggio exhibition.
This year, Capodimonte was set to open two shows for the Spring holiday: Vincenzo Gemito: From Sculpture to Drawing and Luca Giordano: From Nature to Painting. Versions of both exhibitions opened to great success this autumn at the Petit Palais in Paris. For their Neapolitan homecoming, the exhibitions have been expanded to include dozens of additional works of art.
