Born on 6 May 1905, under the sign of Taurus, Carlo Mollino was a designer, architect, graphic designer, set designer, photographer, writer, racing driver and aviator, and an excellent skier. The only son of engineer Eugenio Mollino, he graduated in architecture from the Polytechnic of Turin, the city in which he was born, lived and died.
Especially after his death, he had a huge influence on the imagination of Italian and international artists and designers. Eclectic and solitary, he created his designs in the 1950s and 1960s and was a "designer without industry".
