Castel di Tora is a striking medieval village located in the Lazio region of central Italy, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) northeast of Rome. It lies on the shores of Lake Turano, surrounded by the mountains of the Monte Navegna and Monte Cervia Nature Reserve.
Its setting offers one of the most picturesque landscapes in the province of Rieti. Despite its small size, Castel di Tora is considered one of Italy’s official Borghi più belli d’Italia, the association that recognizes the country’s most beautiful historic villages.
