In terms of exports, the Parma District, which had dropped 7.4% in 2020 and had largely recovered in 2021 (+21.5%), pursued its rise in foreign markets in the first nine months of 2022 (+11.3%). The Reggio Emilia District, on the other hand, posted a sharp decline in the first nine months of 2022 (-30.3%), with widespread losses to major destinations, particularly the United Kingdom, (-48.4%), France (-19.3%) and Germany (-33.5%), while exports to the US (+38.8%) grew by double digits, thanks in part to the strong dollar that makes Made in Italy products cheaper overseas.
