The Italian culture ministry has announced that 135 million euros will be invested in 2017-2018 in the restoration and valorization of museums and archaeological areas, large libraries and archives as well as other cultural attractions. Some 23 new works are included in the plan, which comes in addition to some 490 million to be invested in the southern parts of the country.

The detailed plan approved on Thursday has been put up on the ministry website. Libraries and archives account for 43% of the overall investment: 58 million euros. The remaining part is shared out between investment in museums and archaeological areas (40.3%, or 54.5 million euros) and in cultural attractions and hubs (16.7%, or 22.5 million euros).
