After three silvers and two bronzes, comes the first gold medal for Italy at the ongoing Fencing World Championships in Cairo, Egypt. Italy's Alice Volpi, Martina Favaretto, Francesca Palumbo and Arianna Errigo, who has already won a silver in the women's individual, triumphed over the United States, dominating the challenge with a score of 45-27. Third was Japan, which beat Hungary 45-30.

The triumph of the Italian women's team on this penultimate day was followed by the men's epee team's silver, beaten in the final by France with a score of 45-42. Andrea Santarelli, Davide Di Veroli, Federico Vismara and Gabriele Cimini bring the Italian medal tally to seven.
