AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy — American and Italian middle and high school students shared an educational experience while learning more about one another's cultures during a tour at Aviano Air Base last week. Nearly 40 teachers and students from the base's school and Italian students from the Leonardo da Vinci Technical Institute in Nanto began the tour with a history of the Pagliano e Gori airport and the importance of the mission and the relationship between Italy and the U.S.
"It is important for them to understand how to build these relationships," said Lt. Col. Alan Martinis, Italian air force operations group commander. "They see the Italian air base supporting a strong U.S. Air Force mission. It is important for these young men and women to see that so they can continue this partnership in the future."
