After almost three years of the pandemic and multiple global crises, many of us are in need of a respite from the stress of our day to day lives. Thus, we are launching an Italian Diaspora Studies writing retreat that will provide participants with the space and time to focus on their writing and on other creative and intellectual pursuits away from the pressures and distractions of everyday life.
The program will be held in the historical Grand Hotel San Michele, one of the best in Calabria. The property includes a large farm, golf course, swimming pool, and a private beach reachable by an elevator down the mountainside. The restaurant uses the hotel’s farm-grown products (https://www.
The retreat will focus on the relationship between writing and photography. The well-known poet Maria Mazziotti Gillan will lead the workshop on creative writing; the estabished poet and fotographer Mark Hillringhouse the one on photographing and writing.
This is an unique occasion to search for roots and identity, while interacting with well-known writers and scholars, strengthening social bonds destined to last.
Deadline to apply: December 10, 2022. Cost of the program: EUR 3000. Maximum number of participants: 20
