2024 was a positive year for the Italian real estate sector, with residential sales growing by 1.5% and a 5% increase in the sales of first homes. The buying and selling of energy-efficient homes has accelerated: in 2024, the appreciation for a property’s energy efficiency improved (+4%), and for the first time, the most traded luxury homes were in class A1, the most sustainable class (13.02%).
Energy efficiency, when evaluating a house to buy, is no longer at the bottom of the list but comes immediately after location and type, demonstrating a greater public awareness of the benefits and importance of having a less energy-consuming home, especially considering the rising cost of living and recurring hikes in energy bills.
