Italy put on stream 1,066 MW of new renewable power plants in the second quarter of 2023, mostly solar photovoltaic (PV), and registered an increase of 41% from a year earlier, new statistics show. The level of quarterly deployments is the highest in the past four years and compares with 271 MW and 758 MW brought online in the second quarter of 2021 and 2022, respectively. Sequentially, Italy’s solar deployments rose by 7%.
943 MW of the total new grid-connected capacity came from solar PV parks, with additions in the segment marking a 50% jump on a yearly basis. The growth was driven mostly by the commissioning of plants of less than 10 kW in size, which accounted for 90.4% of the total installed capacity.
