Italy is a world leader in solar energy. From 2010 to 2013, it has risen from 5th place in the world to 3rd place in terms of installed capacity, behind Germany and China. (And bear in mind, these are real terms and not per capita terms.) Moreover, Italy is now global 1st place in the world for the percentage electrical generation coming from solar power: a full 7.8% of Italy's electricity is sustainably generated by the sun. Now that's something to be proud of.

Regarding Italy, the European Photovoltaic Industry Association recently stated, "The future growth of the market will depend on the streamlining and harmonisation of administrative procedures, combined with an adapted decrease of the FIT in the third Conto Energia to cope with the expected price decrease".
