As of 2021, 58 UNESCO World Heritage Sites have been named in Italy making it the country with the most UNESCO World Heritage sites in the world with China coming closely behind. These historical sites which represent the history and dealings of the Italian people are located throughout the different cities within the country with many dating as far back as the Stone, Bronze, and Iron ages.

The tragic story of how a city was destroyed by the raging volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. is not a new story to the world. Being the only city in the world with such a history, Pompeii has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site and now stands as a subject of curiosity to knowledge seekers from all over the world.
