Italy is once again shaping up to be one of the most popular destinations for international travelers this summer. Travel forecasts show strong interest in vacationing across the country, with 18.6 million international air passengers expected. Demand is clearly rising, with bookings up 17.9% compared to the same time last year. These numbers place Italy as the second most sought-after travel destination worldwide, just after Spain.
Altogether, around 27 million travelers—both international visitors and domestic tourists—are expected to move throughout the country during the summer season. Northern Italy is projected to receive the most international visitors (7.7 million), followed by Central Italy (5.5 million) and the South (5.4 million), which is also seeing the highest volume of domestic air passengers (about 5.4 million).
