“An occasion of particularly important strategic relevance,” commented President Fontana , “thanks to which we will be able to make, reciprocally, the relations between Lombardy and the United States and in particular with Florida even stronger . We shared the possibility of intensifying trade exchanges and forging further collaboration in strategic sectors such as research and innovation."

And in this direction goes the memorandum signed, on the sidelines of the bilateral, between Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta and The Florida International University Board of Trustees that provides for the development of collaborations between the Lombardy institution and the American institution on scientific-health issues.

"We proposed to Governor De Santis and representatives of the Florida government to work together to arrive at the formulation of an agreement between Lombardy and Florida. Lombardy, by GDP, in a ranking of European Union countries, would occupy the 10th position, while Florida is among the most economically relevant states in the United States, with figures that place it 15th worldwide: a closer collaboration between these two “regional” economic powers can only be beneficial for both."

Governor DeSantis also showed great interest in Lombardy's economic-productive system and tourism potential, with great attention to the lakes and mountains, as well as the region's cultural heritage.
