“Made in Italy” takes over Rio Olympics

A swimming record just one hundred days before the Olympics Games is a record in itself, given the tough weeks Rio de Janeiro is presently going through, struggling with a request for impeachment against Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, a health emergency and street protests.

As it awaits the arrival of the Olympic torch that hit the road on April 21 from Olympia, the city helped set a new record. Italian company Piscine Castiglione (known as "Myrta Pools" outside of Italy) won a contract worth over €10 million for the construction of all 18 swimming pools in the Brazil Olympics and will reach € 78 million in sales. Piscina Castiglione is one of a handful of Italian companies that are key suppliers at the Olympics.
